Forest offers a variety of therapies that can provide a meaningful benefit to people's
lives. Our diverse range of prescription products, including key products Lexapro®,
Namenda®, and Bystolic®, treat such conditions as depression and anxiety,
Alzheimer's disease, hypertension, and more.
We continue to cultivate our established cardiovascular and central nervous system
therapeutic franchises while exploring new product opportunities that will better
serve important treatment needs in the patient population.
- Cardiovascular
-
If left untreated, high blood pressure can lead to heart disease and stroke. Because
blood pressure is controlled by a number of biological factors, patients and physicians
depend on a variety of treatment options. Forest's high blood pressure treatment
therapies—Bystolic® (nebivolol) and Tiazac® (diltiazem hydrochloride)—work in different ways
to manage a condition that affects nearly 1 in 3 Americans.

- Central Nervous System
-
The central nervous system communicates through a complex and intricate network
of transmissions, making treatment a challenge for conditions such as depression,
anxiety, Alzheimer's disease and alcohol dependence. Forest has developed a portfolio
of therapies designed to manage these conditions:
Lexapro® (escitalopram oxalate) for major depressive disorder and generalized
anxiety disorder, which together affect approximately 20 – 30 million people in
the United States; Celexa® (citalopram hydrobromide)
for depression; Namenda® (memantine HCl)
for moderate and severe Alzheimer's disease, which currently affects an estimated
5 million Americans; and Campral® (acamprosate
calcium) for alcohol dependence in association with psychosocial support.

- Endocrinology
-
The endocrine system helps regulate metabolic activity in the body. The thyroid
gland plays a key role within the endocrine system by producing hormones that help
cells convert oxygen and calories into energy. Thyroid medications are among the
most prescribed in the U.S., with approximately 27 million Americans suffering from
thyroid diseases. Forest offers three products to help treat these diseases: Armour®Thyroid (thyroid tablets, USP),
Levothroid® (levothyroxine sodium tablets, USP), and
Thyrolar® (liotrix tablets, USP).

- Ob/Gyn
-
In the Ob/Gyn area, Forest has developed treatments for patients undergoing complications
during labor.
-
Of the approximately 4 million births every year in the U.S., 21% will require induction
of labor. Cervidil® Vaginal Insert (dinoprostone,
10 mg), is the only FDA-approved removable product for ripening the cervix, the
process by which the cervix becomes more compliant and which must take place before
induction can be safely undertaken.

- Pain Management
-
Acute pain is the most common reason patients seek medical attention. Each year,
about 25 million Americans experience acute pain as a result of injury or surgery.
Forest offers a combination pain product, Combunox®
(oxycodone HCl 5mg and ibuprofen 400 mg) Tablets CII, to help manage acute, moderate
to severe pain for up to seven days.
Combunox is a combination opioid / non-opioid pain medication approved for the management
of acute, moderate to severe pain. Combunox is the first and only medication to
combine 5 mg of oxycodone HCl and 400 mg of ibuprofen, the highest dose of ibuprofen
available in a combination opioid product.

provides metered-dose inhaler medication, Aerobid®
(flunisolide), to help manage the inflammation caused by asthma. AeroChamber Plus® is a holding chamber device designed
to maximize the delivery of metered-dose inhaler medications to patients' lungs.
Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is a lung condition that can occur in premature
